Pitch Black (NZ) Album Launch Friday June 5th

Taking it to the people, Pitch Black will be touring Australia with their new album, ‘Rhythm & Sound & Movement’
What do you get when you combine elements of rhythm, sound and movement? A beautifully balanced mix of Dub, Ambience and Drum and Bass. Pitch Black’s album ‘Rhythm & Sound & Movement’ is the perfect formula – a collection of other artists’ interpretations of songs from the hugely successful ‘Rude Mechanicals’ album.

Paddy Free and Michael Hodgson, the pair known as Pitch Black, have spent the last nine years rousing dance floor punters, generating rave reviews, winning awards and gaining thousands of fans across the world. A combination of musical journeys, their music is distinctive. Ranging from organic ambient beginnings and layered soundscapes to skanking keyboards, cutting acid riffs and thumping rhythmic grooves, with Dub being the glue that holds their sound together.

Affectionately labelled the ‘Godfathers of Kiwi Electronica’, Pitch Black have been gigging across the globe more often than in their home country New Zealand, going hard in many parts of the world – especially the virtual one.

Touring Japan and the US in 2008, these turned out to be their biggest tours yet – their third and fifth time playing there respectively. Evidently the punters just can’t get enough as almost three more months of solid touring in both those countries has been locked in, in addition to dates in the UK and Europe from June through to August of 2009.

Most importantly though, having won hoards of fans at Rainbow Serpent and Earthdance festivals in past years, the boys will be back on Aussie shores in June!
